Question 1

The BOD outbound data flow is based on events. An event represents predefined data. The Event Hub is the central place where all events are directed to its subscribers. M3 Foundation events can be based on program or table operators: Start, Exit, Fail, Create, Update, Delete, Request, or Response.

Events that trigger M3 BODs are based on table changes.

Sending the initial data load

During normal processing, BODs are published when a user changes data or completes a transaction. However, when you start a new integration with another application, you must manually generate BODs that pass the current set of data from M3 to the other application, so that the base systems are synchronized. The BODs are placed in the message outbox, from which Infor ION retrieves them and passes them to the other application.

To perform the initial load of M3 data into the BODs that are placed in the message outbox:

1 Take note of the name of the master table for the applicable BOD. See Master tables for initial load on page 111.
2 In M3, open ‘Initial Load.Start’ (EVS005). If Smart Office is used, then specify MFORMS://EVS005, else specify EVS005. The H5 client is the assumed user interface.
3 In Table, specify the master table name, for example MITMAS, to trigger M3BE_Out_ShowItemMaster.
4 In Division, specify the division of the events if applicable. Note that the Division parameter only works if the Division field (DIVI) is a field in the primary key of the table that is specified inTable.
5 Optionally, in From date and To date, specify the registration date range for the data that is to be triggered. Note: The initial loading for large tables takes a long time. You should run only one table a time. You must ensure that there are sufficient resources available in the system at the time of the initial load.
6 Leave the Max no. lines, Search query and Key field fields blank. They are not applicable when sending initial data. Click Next.

Note: For testing purposes, you can limit the number of lines. In the live initial-load scenario, leave the field blank to obtain the full amount of data. The M3BE_Out_Show[Noun Mapping] BOD is triggered. After the initial data load, M3 sends BOD updates when users change certain data or when certain transactions occur in M3.

Depending on the version of Grid you are using, refer to "Event Hub and Event Analytics Grid Extensions" in Lawson Grid Extensions Installation and Administration Guide or in Infor ION Grid Extensions Installation and Administration Guide.

Use Eclipse Classic 4.3 or later with the plugin that is available from Infor Xtreme. The newest versions of Eclipse seem to have problems with Infor plugins, so I stick to the Classic 4.3 per the doc. The plugin filename is smartrules.eclipse.repository-xxxx.zip. I could not find it in the downloads and had to open a ticket to get access to it.

Question 4

I've seen problems with blank dialog boxes in a couple of instances. One was running in a VMWare Client after a Windows update, and the other was on a laptop running an Intel integrated video card.

From my research, it appears to be a problem with the WPF Hardware Acceleration. The only way I've found to fix the issue is to disable it for WPF applications. The settings can be created or modified by accessing the values directly by using the Windows Registry Editor.

Disable Hardware Acceleration Option

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics\DisableHWAcceleration

The disable hardware acceleration option enables you to turn off hardware acceleration for debugging and test purposes. When you see rendering artifacts in an application, try turning off hardware acceleration. If the artifact disappears, the problem might be with your video driver.

The disable hardware acceleration option is a DWORD value that is either 0 or 1. A value of 1 disables hardware acceleration. A value of 0 enables hardware acceleration, provided the system meets hardware acceleration requirements; for more information, see reference page from Microsoft below.

Question 5

I was able to reproduce the failure in a 15.1.4 MCP2 environment, I was getting the same “Failed to comply with request” message. It appears after 13.2 that the engine is expecting encoded URLs like are used in H5. Perhaps they made an update on the backend of M3, who knows, my searches didn’t reveal anything in the release notes on Infor Extreme. I have tested the scripts below and they work in the new version.
